Crapo Support For Tax Cuts Leads Toâ??Hero Of The Taxpayerâ?? Award

Americans for Tax Reform honors senator in Washington

Washington, DC - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo today received the â??Hero of the Taxpayerâ?? Award from the Americans for Tax Reform during an afternoon ceremony in Washington, DC. Crapo, a member of the Senate Budget Committee and supporter of several tax-cutting and economic stimulus measures, was honored for his work during the 107th Congress and for his ongoing effort to reduce and eliminate federal budget deficits.â??Idaho families are paying less in taxes today and those tax cuts have stimulated the economic growth that is leading our country to a strong recovery,â?? Crapo said. â??As I have been many times throughout my service in Congress, I am proud to receive the recognition of Americans for Tax Reform, but we need to do more to maintain our positive momentum. The important tax relief we have provided must not be allowed to sunset, as that would mean higher taxes on working families and increased federal spending.â?? Crapo has drawn national attention for his work on the federal spending â??lock boxâ?? proposals to reduce the federal deficit. He has supported elimination of the marriage penalty, which gave married couples a $1,500 tax break and voted to end the inheritance â??deathâ?? tax. Americans for Tax Reform says its list of critical votes includes votes on permanent death tax repeal and the 2003 tax relief plan that reduced tax rates on capital gains and dividend income. Crapo, a member of the Senate Zero Capital Gains Caucus, has also been invited by the Senate Majority Leader to serve on the Senate Tax Reform Working Group. .# # #
