Crapo: Increased Gun Control Not the Answer

Discussion deserves full, public debate in Congress

Washington, D.C. - Today, the Obama administration unveiled a set of new gun proposals, including a ban on so-called assault weapons, universal background checks and limits on the number of bullets in gun magazines.  The sweeping proposals include 23 separate executive actions that the administration asserts it can take, absent Congressional action, in an attempt to limit gun violence.  Idaho Senator Mike Crapo issued the following statement in response:

"The President's proposal on gun control is very disappointing.  Any discussion about restricting the Constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans deserves, at minimum, a full and public debate in Congress.  Burdening law-abiding citizens of this country with additional gun restrictions is not the answer to safeguarding the public from further attacks."
