U.S. National Debt:

Six Interns Join Crapo's Offices for Spring Term

WASHINGTON – The Washington, D.C., and state offices of U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) will have six interns serve in various capacities for the spring of 2020.

“The interns joining my office this spring will have a unique perspective into the daily work of the U.S. Senate,” said Senator Crapo.  “They will be tasked with assignments to help them gain hands-on experience working in the legislative branch, and will witness firsthand how the needs of Idahoans are considered before Congress.  I look forward to having them in my office.”

Four students are interning in the Washington, D.C., office:

Jefferson Washburn, a Nampa native, studies political science at Brigham Young University in Utah.  He has interests in corporate law.

Thomas Broadbent graduated in December from Utah State University with a degree in management and agriculture business.  His policy interests include natural resources, agriculture and business.

Jalen Gemmell, from New Zealand, attends Brigham Young University in Utah and is pursuing a degree in biology and art history.  He hopes to attend medical school in the near future.

Christina Green, a native of Long Island, New York, has family roots in Idaho, and currently studies criminal justice at George Washington University.  She has interests in constitutional law and education, and hopes to pursue a law degree in the future.

Two students are interning in the Boise, ID, office:

Sonia West, born in Yokohama, Japan, moved to Boise with her family, where she has lived since 2001.  She studies political science with an emphasis in international relations at Boise State University.  Sonia is the treasurer of the Idaho Japanese Association.

Akisha Bedgisoff, a native of Washington State, moved to Boise, ID, shortly after completing her a degree in International Studies at Brigham Young University in Rexburg.  She is pursuing a master’s degree through Southern New Hampshire University in media and marketing.

Crapo hosts interns in his D.C. office as well in the various regional offices throughout Idaho.  Students interested in positions for the spring, summer or fall semesters can find more information about the application process, internship expectations, and deadlines for applying on the Senator's official website at https://www.crapo.senate.gov/services/interns.cfm.
