Washington, D.C.--Five interns joined U.S. Senator Mike Crapo’s (R-Idaho) Washington, D.C., and Boise offices for the winter 2026 term.
“The young individuals joining my office for the winter term will get to experience firsthand important moments under President Trump’s historic second term,” said Crapo. “They will actively engage with Idaho’s constituents, expand their understanding of the federal policymaking process and grow a variety of skills important for their next career step. I am delighted to have them on my team this winter and look forward to their success.”
Three interns will serve in the Washington, D.C., office:
- Jared Austin is a Pocatello, Idaho, native and a senior at Brigham Young University-Idaho. He is studying communication with an emphasis in public relations. This is his second internship in Washington, D.C., and his goal for the semester is to learn the workings of building bridges between organizations and their audiences.
- Mikey Stanciu, also an Idaho native, comes to Washington, D.C., from Nampa, Idaho. He is a senior at Boise State University, majoring in criminal justice and psychology. His goal for his internship is to gain a deeper understanding of health care policy.
- Justin Stewart recently graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in public policy and administration. He previously worked with the Crapo team as an intern in the Idaho Falls office in 2024. His goal for the semester is to strengthen his experience in working with matters related to national security and intelligence.
Two interns will serve in the Boise office:
- Catie Tatom is a senior at Boise State University, where she studies political science. She is originally from the Boise area. Her goal for her internship is to gain experience that will prepare her for law school.
- Garrett Scherer, also a senior at Boise State University, is from Livermore, California. He is studying political science with a focus on American government and policy making. His goal for the semester is to gain experience as he prepares to go to law school.
Crapo hosts interns in his Washington, D.C., office as well as in the various regional offices throughout Idaho. The applications for the summer and fall 2026 terms close on March 1.
