Washington, D.C. –The U.S. Senate unanimously approved a Senate resolution designating September 20-26, 2026, as National Forensic Science Week. U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) introduced the resolution to honor the role forensic science plays in administering justice, holding offenders accountable and exonerating the innocent.
“Forensic science practitioners, researchers and administrators do important work every day to help ensure justice is served and the truth comes to light,” said Crapo. “National Forensic Science Week is an opportunity to thank these dedicated professionals, including the outstanding men and women at the Idaho State Police Forensic Services Laboratories, the Boise City Police Crime Laboratory, the Nampa City Police Crime Laboratory, the Canyon County Crime Laboratory, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Science Laboratory and at coroner offices all over Idaho the for the skill, care and integrity they bring to their work on behalf of our communities.”

The resolution is co-sponsored by Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Peter Welch (D-Vermont).
