Looks forward to speedy Senate confirmation

Washington, DC â??Idaho Senator Mike Crapo met with Supreme Court Justice nominee John Roberts today and confirmed his belief that Roberts will serve the American people well and correctly interpret the Constitution. Roberts has been meeting individually with Senators prior to his confirmation hearings, which are tentatively scheduled to begin August 29th. â??I appreciate Judge Roberts making himself available to meet with all Senators prior to his consideration by the Senate,â?? Crapo said. â??It is important for every Senator to have the opportunity to meet with the Presidentâ??s choice prior to his consideration on the Senate floor. Although we both attended Harvard Law, we never had the chance to meet so it was great to do so. Our meeting confirmed the high praises that I have heard from my colleagues and throughout the country on his nomination and I look forward to a fair confirmation process.â?? Roberts was nominated by the President on July 19th to replace Justice Sandra Day Oâ??Connor. The Judiciary Committee has tentatively scheduled hearings on his confirmation to begin in late August.
