Idaho Students Nominated To U.S. Service Academies Crapo selects more than thirty students for consideration

Washington, DC – Idaho Senator Mike Crapo has nominated more than thirty Idaho students to military service academies for the class entering in 2005. The students’ applications will be forwarded to one of the four U.S. service academies where final selections will be made by each academy.
“These students represent some of the finest that Idaho has to offer,” Crapo said. “It is worth noting that today is the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, an event that spurred many young Americans to sign up for military service more than sixty years ago. Our country will always need outstanding individuals to choose a military career and the nominations announced today certainly contain students who have great potential for serving their country. As always, I was inspired as I reviewed their applications and I wish them the best as they continue to pursue their goal of a military service education.”
Each year U.S. Senators and Representatives make nominations to service academies. The service academies then select from those nominations. Crapo made nominations to the following service academies: the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado; the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York; the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York; and the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland.
To be eligible for nominations, each student submitted an application and references, and met certain scholastic requirements under a deadline. A nomination does not guarantee acceptance.
