112th Congress: Action On Health Care

During the 112th Congress, I have agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with health care. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to health care. You can view a comprehensive list at the Legislation Co-Sponsored Section of this site or through the Library of Congress Thomas site.

Legislation I've supported includes:

  • S.Res.32 – A resolution sponsored by Crapo himself that designated February as “National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.”  Introduced January 27, 2011.

  • S.281 - A bill to halt implementation of any provision of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that has not yet been implemented until the final resolution of all pending legal actions against the statute.  Introduced February 3, 2011.

  • S.877 - A bill that Senator Crapo guarantees that no taxpayer dollars flow to cover elective abortions by applying the longstanding policy of the Hyde Amendment to the new health care law.  Introduced May 4, 2011.

  • S.595 - A bill to provide support to school districts across the country by distributing financial compensation to districts that are adversely affected by the loss of tax revenues caused by federal ownership of land, including military bases, tribal land and national parks.  Introduced March 16, 2011.

  • S.720 - A bill to the repeal the CLASS Entitlement Act, a costly entitlement program created to win a short-term political gain.  Introduced April 4, 2011.

  • S.722 - A bill to require any changes to hospice Medicare reimbursements be tested for two years in a pilot program to ensure they do not harm hospice centers in a way that would limit access to those who need it most.  Introduced April 4, 2011.

  • S.863 - A bill to amend title XVI of the Social Security Act to clarify that the value of certain funeral and burial arrangements are not to be considered available resources under the supplemental security income program.  Introduced April 14, 2011.

  • S.906 - A bill to permanently prohibit all federal funding for abortions. (There are currently 27 co-sponsors including Senators Hatch, Kyl and Coburn.) Introduced May 5, 2011.

  • S.501 - A bill to establish pilot projects under the Medicare program to provide incentives for home health agencies to utilize home monitoring and communications technologies. This bill will help rural America by easing the doctors to see patients without traveling great distance.  Introduced March 8, 2011.

  • S.Res.172 - A resolution that recognizes contributions made by scientists and clinicians across the U.S. who are dedicated to finding cures for all cancers.  Introduced May 5, 2011.

  • S.385 - A bill to extend federal death benefits under the Public Safety Officer Benefit (PSOB) program to nongovernmental paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) who die in the line of duty.  Introduced February 27, 2011.

  • S.1049 – A bill to repeal the employer mandate and insurance industry tax created by “Obama Care” and the FSA cap and several other insurance mandates.  Introduced May 23, 2011.

Other actions I have taken to support Idaho health care initiatives include:

  • Filed an amicus brief along with 43 Senate Republican colleagues with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. The brief was filed on behalf of the bipartisan, multi-state challenge to the Democrats’ health spending law.

  • Co-sponsored a letter to HHS Secretary Sebelius and CMS Administrator Berwick asking them to withdraw the Accountable Care Organization Regulation.
