Environment and Public Lands Recognition/Awards

It is an honor to represent the people of Idaho. It is my goal to do so in a manner that reflects the values and traditions of Idahoans. During the course of my public service, I have been fortunate to be recognized by many tremendous organizations. Many of these awards are based on my voting record, and my efforts to serve the people of Idaho.

Protecting our environment doesn't have to be at odds with private property rights.  Idaho has tremendous natural resources that contribute significant to the quality of life of many--not just in recreational value, but in many ways, including economic.  It has been my experience that a commonsense approach using collaboration and cooperation can resolve many of the challenging issues that involve our land, environment and natural resources.  To learn more about my position on the various issues involvement environmental and public land policy, please visit the Environment & Natural Resources section of this website.  Below you will find listed the awards I have received for my efforts in environment and public lands issues:

Friend of Farm Bureau


Awarded by the Farm Bureau in the 108th and 107th Congresses

Presented for support to achieve educational improvement, economical opportunity and social advancement for the farming and ranching communities.

 

Champion of Private Property Rights

Awarded by The League of Private Property Voters in 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 1999, 1997-1998, 1995-96 and 1993-94

Presented to efforts to protect the constitutional rights of property owners against federal government invasion.

 

Outstanding Leadership Recognition

Awarded by the Idaho Weed Awareness Campaign in 2005

Presented for advocacy for invasive weed control and concern for Idaho's economic and environmental well being.

 
Teaming With Wildlife Coalition Recognition

Presented for support of water issues in the State of Idaho.

 

For outstanding contributions to Pacific Coast fisheries

Awarded by the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission in 2003

Presented for outstanding contributions to Pacific Coast fisheries.

 

2003 Independent Oil and Natural Gas Award

Given in the 107th Congress to Members of Congress who work vigorously to maintain and enhance America's domestic oil and natural gas reserves.

 

Legislative Award

Awarded by the Idaho Association of Wheat Growers in 2004

Presented for advocacy of legislation that represents the best interests of wheat growers and farmers in Idaho and the U.S.

 

Anadromous Friend of the Year

Awarded by Idaho Steelhead and Salmon Union (ISSU) in 1995

Presented for leadership on efforts to restore wild Snake River salmon and steelhead and bring back an important economic and cultural resource to Idaho.
